Cryptid Currency

This is a digital illustrative project exploring the redesign of currency. I chose to focus on the cryptids of America while including elements of vintage horror book covers and postcards.
Research
When this project first initially launched we had to make a list of 100 possible options, I chose themes based on my personal interests. After the lengthy process of whittling down the list I was left with three possible themes.
Concept Designs
While all three of these concepts would've been so fun to do, in the end the cryptids within the USA concept won me over. After deciding on my topic I quickly started creating or searching for my references and began illustrating all 6 of my chosen cryptids. The first monster tackled was the Dark Watchers. You can watch my illustration process below.
Phase One
Going into this I already had a list of the cryptids I wanted to incorporate in this project during my research phase. It was important for me to include elements of vintage horror book covers and postcards. All illustrations were done using Procreate.
